Virginia Donohoe

Virginia Donohoe, Elder Class of 1926, attended Holy Family grade school before making her way to Elder and becoming a member of the second-to-last class of girls at the school before Seton High School opened in 1927. She was a true lady with a healthy Irish spirit and a sturdy backbone. Her sons Jack and Dick graduated from Roger Bacon and then Xavier University. Jack settled in Price Hill while serving as president of the JA Kindel Company. Virginia was the grandmother of Dennis ’74, Randy ’79, Marty ’82, and Danny Berning, and great-grandmother of Thomas Becker ‘15. Elder’s English department would be proud of the refined grammar instructions Virginia discretely taught her grandchildren. The Virginia Donohoe Fund was created in 1994 and prides itself on the fact that hundreds of students have received/will receive tuition assistance in memory of Grandma Berning (nee Donohoe).
