Campus Ministry

Campus ministry is a program at Elder High School where students, alongside the Campus Minister, seek to make the Catholic faith part of the fabric of the school. Campus ministry students are responsible for planning all Liturgical events at Elder and are trained to be readers of Holy Scripture. Some will act as Eucharistic ministers and learn to compose a Call to Worship or petitions for the Prayer of the Faithful. Students also help plan days of reflection, retreats, service opportunities, and other spiritual experiences for the Elder community. Campus ministry is open to and inclusive of all members of the student body.

"...cooperation between these two great institutions, Church and university, is indispensable to the health of society."

-- To Teach as Jesus Did: A Pastoral Message on Catholic Education #63
"Campus ministry can be defined as the public presence and service through which properly prepared baptized persons are empowered by the Spirit to use their talents and gifts on behalf of the Church in order to be a sign and instrument of kingdom in the academic worlds. The eye of faith discerns campus ministry where commitment to Christ and care for the academic world meet in purposeful activity to serve and realize the kingdom God."
