Danny Bloemker Memorial

Danny Bloemker, Elder Class of 1976, was the second youngest in a family of eight, seven boys and one girl.  He was an avid fisherman, and many times when mom and dad would get up in the morning there would be a note on the counter: “Gone Fishing, Love Danny.”  Danny had brothers Paul ’66, Don ’70, Phil ’75, and Steve ’78 that graduated from Elder and a sister that graduated from Seton in 1968.  Danny’s father also attended Elder but left early due to the war; he was a WWII Veteran and received his Veterans diploma from Elder in 2003.  After high school Danny went to work for the Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company.  On August 23, 1980, Danny married Kathy Casson.  On December 17, 1980, Danny and his coworker died while trying to repair an active gas line.  A permanent scholarship in Danny’s name was established in 2003, though Danny’s friends and family have been having an annual golf outing to raise money for Holy Family students attending Elder since 1994.
