John J. "Butch" Florian

John "Butch ' Florian , Elder Class of 1965. Butch was so proud of going to Elder High School that he influenced his 10-year-old brother into knowing Elder was the place to be. Butch was a cheerleader and wore the Elder Panther mascot outfit a number of times. Butch's mother enjoyed seeing him as a mascot at football games so much that she bought season tickets, that his family renews and continues to enjoy.

Butch went on to graduate from the University of Cincinnati and then became an owner and operator of Catalina Boat Harbour in Addyston, a restaurant known as the Twenty Mile House in Mason, and Flanagan's Landing on 2nd Street in Cincinnati. Butch passed away too early at the age of 47 and his family established this scholarship because of his love of the school and the relationships that were built because of his Elder Friends.
