Patrick Leisgang Memorial

Patrick Leisgang, Elder Class of 2001, was a special “Man of Elder.” He was born with Ollier’s Enchondromatosis, a rare disease that left him short in stature (at 4’8”) but long in compassion. He endured multiple orthopedic procedures to lengthen and straighten his affected bones. His special years at Elder were spent acquiring new friendships and classmates and lifelong memories. The Elder Staff found ways to involve Patrick in team management and Kairos retreats—he cherished all those activities. He graduated from The University of Dayton in 2005. He developed bone and lung cancers from his disease and passed peacefully after valiant struggles with chemotherapy and surgery at age 37. His memory will live on through this scholarship—always immortalizing “Altiora”—the higher things.
