Don & Joan Schmitt

Don Schmitt, Elder Class of 1949, and his wife, Joan, put the wheels in motion in 1981 on creating a scholarship fund at Elder. Their main aim was not just to get a student through Elder, but also to see that the student was going to go on to college. The donors are very committed to the scholarship, following each student closely for their four years at Elder. 

The Elder faculty and staff are always so interested in and committed to their students, and, because of this, one cannot help but be enthusiastic right along with them. Elder is so special to Don and Joan...always was...and always will be.
