Aug Family

The Aug Family Scholarship was established in 1987 by George Aug, Jr., Elder class of 1929. The Aug family’s involvement with Elder dates back to the early 1920s when Ray Aug enrolled and distinguished himself as a star athlete.  He was followed by his brothers George and Vince, athletic stars also.  Peggy Henry Aug, George’s future wife, also walked the halls of Elder for three years before Seton High School opened and Elder became an all-male school.

The Aug family was actively involved at Elder in many ways in the early years and continues to be in the present time.  George Aug’s father, George, was instrumental in starting the Elder Welfare Association in 1929.  George, Jr. revitalized the Alumni Association in the mid-1950s, and his son, Ed, served as President in 1962.  During Elder’s 50th anniversary, George, Jr. was recognized as one of Elder’s top 25 graduates.

George, Jr.’s sons, George, Ed, Dan, and Tom, all attended Elder in the 1950s and ’60s, and have served on a variety of school and alumni activities.  Dan and Tom were both recognized by the Alumni Association for Christian Leadership.  Tom received the Altiora Award in 2021.

The third and fourth generations of Augs have attended Elder and participated in many athletic and school activities.  The 19th member of the family will graduate in 2026.
