Vincent J. Meyer
Vincent J Meyer, Elder Class of 1931, grew up in Price Hill. He and his family lived on Warsaw Avenue and Vince attended St. Lawrence Elementary School. As a young boy, Vince delivered newspapers through the neighborhoods of Price Hill riding his pony.
After Vince graduated from Elder, he attended the University of Cincinnati, and went on to succeed his father and grandfather as the owner and Funeral Director of the B.J. Meyer Funeral Home when it was located on Warsaw Avenue, as well as a second location at Glenway and Overlook Ave.
He and his wife Florence Bohmer Meyer raised four children: Roger, Allan, Greg ‘70, and Marian. Both Vince and Flo lived on the West side of Cincinnati all their lives, and were married for 42 years until Vince’s passing in 1983. Their Catholic faith was deeply central to both Vince and Flo throughout their entire lives.
Now continuing the funeral home legacy through the third and fourth generation are son Greg Meyer and Greg’s son Keith, as owners/directors of The Meyer Funeral Home with locations in Bridgetown and Price Hill.
The legacy of Elder continued in the family through Vince’s son Greg‘70, son-in-law Gary Koester ‘71, and grandson Joe Koester ‘99.
