In 1989 Elder created the Fr. Schmitt Society after learning the school had been included in the financial estate plans of graduates and friends. At that time the first gift arrived in the form of a share in a charitable remainder trust. The planned giving society was named in honor of the first Elder principal, Reverend William G. Schmitt, who stepped forward to serve as leader of Cincinnati’s first diocesan Catholic high school. Since that time the society has grown to over 100 individuals and couples.
The only requirement for membership in the society is that Elder High School or The Altiora Fund has been included in your estate plans. Simply contact Planned Giving Director Tom Reiring at email@example.com or (513) 921-3425 with your information. The society is published each year in the summer "Pride" magazine within the "Donor Honor Roll" section. Membership helps the school in two ways; first for future financial planning and secondly as an example for others to follow. Grads and friends of Elder have informed Elder of having committed $7+ million in future planned gifts. Any information you share is held in strict confidence.
